We’ve discussed our responsive designs on our blog in the past, so we’ll try not to get too redundant with this big news. For a long time, Google has made it obvious that mobile-friendly web design is a powerful signal when determining pagerank. Recently, however they come out and made a direct statement about what they’re looking for, and when their changes will be implemented:
Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.
This news, together with increasing mobile usage, especially in warmer months means it’s more important than ever to make your site responsive.
